TWSSG First Ratings Beat “Jumong” to Rank First Place & Future Concerns

The ratings for the TWSSG Special broadcast in Korea on September 10 were 14.1% (TNS Media).

It was a good start even without the program having a Yonsama interview.

"The Jumong special that was broadcast in May of 2006 received an 8% ratings share, so we can expect TWSSG’s high ratings to continue,” said the MBC public relations staff member with great satisfaction.

In the same time slot was the popular SBS drama, King and I with a 25.8% (September 4) share dropping to 22.3% on September 10.

On September 11, the highly anticipated first episode was aired.

“The story was about the four gods battling and the mythical period using CG effects. Yonsama appeared as the white-haired Hwan Woong for ten minutes.” (Korean newspaper reporter)

Family was captivated by his godlike appearance where it seemed a halo surrounded his head. On September 12 at noon, the MBC homepage had received an unprecedented approximate 7,000 viewer comments.

Viewer ratings were 20.4% beating Jumong’s first episode ratings of 16.3%.

“This is the highest rating for a first episode drama broadcast in Korea this year. I believe this was all due to the efforts of BYJ, the cast, and staff." (previously quoted MBC source)

On the same September 11, location filming was taking place at Tanyang, three hours southeast of Seoul.

“After the location filming ended, Yonsama returned to Seoul. The director, Choi Min Soo and some of the cast remained in Tanyang for the screening of the first episode with some of the Yonsama fans who were there in support of the filming. Choi Min Soo himself was distributing drinks to the fans.” (staff)

Will TWSSG be able to beat the record rating of 50% set by Jumong?
