He can't understand Chinese. As for English, perhaps he can speak the general English sentence like "how are you?" and others but can't understand English well as English to him is a bit foreign.

wrong...he understand english well enough to understand what tiffany said in the letter..he finished reading the letter and folded it before the translator even finishes her translation.

why he din speak english is because he has difficulties pronouncing some words like...if u know about the korean language u would noticed that they don have the letter/sound 'f'....ask some of ur korean friends and u would know why..

would love to hear him speak in English (even if it's only a couple of sentences). wanted to make that request during the MTF session but alas did not hv a chance to get to the mike to pose that request during the Q&A session.

From what I've been told, he does speak English well enough, but I'm not too sure how comfortable he is with the language.

Many Koreans are able to understand and write in English but have difficulty in speaking. It is the same for many of us leaning Korean. I may be able to read it and perhaps understand simple Korean, but ask me to speak Korean- I'll freeze.

He may just be shy in speaking it in front of a crowd. I don't know. Well, if he ever comes this way again, we can request him to speak a few words in English. biggrin.gif

That's call memorising script lines. However, he did have a special English coach at that time. He even paid for extra lessons himself then.

Actually, Hotelier isn't the first drama that he spoke in a foreign language. In First Love, he spoke a couple of other langauges, mostly one liners.

Hi Tiffany

During BYJ's trip to Singapore, did any of the JF's committee members communicate with him and if so, did anyone heard him speak English? I am very curious to know. hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks

Susan

The only time we had any communication with him was during the MTF session. So for me- that means asking him to go on stage etc.

As far as I know, he did not speak in English to any of the comm members.

BUT, the boss of Festive Films told me that BYJ did speak to him in English (a very short conversation) and BYJ's English was ok.
