dear JF members,

all the excitement was over. and thank you very much for organizing the whole event.

looking back at the pictures, i suddenly had the question about the scroll presented to YJ on the mtf event. it's said that the words are composed by someone's husband. may i know if anyone has consult a "chinese language expert" about the words??

i don't dare to call myself expert. but being from china, and with a father who is specializing in chinese ancient poetry composing, i know a little bit more than most of the people here i guess.

normally if a scroll like this to be presented, it is called "dui lian", that means the words should be "in pairs" and go by the rule of "ping ze"... the rules are quite strict that i won't explain here. from what i see in the picture, the words presented to YJ didn't obey any rule of "dui lian" at all. and further more, the "lang2" - second charecter, shouldn't it be "lang3" instead of "lang2"? "jun4 lang3" is an adj... and "jun4 lang2" is more an "adj + n." ...

my comment is, to present such gift involving rich chinese culture, needs to be more careful. and we shouldn't forget that many people from taiwan, china, hk, and even japan and korea, who are very good at these stuff, are also watching us.
